Joseph Lucas then increased his range of lamps with hand lamps stable lamps and lanterns In 1880 Lucas patented a cycle lamp aiding safe touring on the increasingly popular bicycle This K1ng -of-the-Road
lamp sold world-wide for the next 40 years. before being replaced by electrical outfits
Wtth the introduction of mass produced automobiles and the Company tradition of quality before quantity. the Lucas group devoted several years to the research development and testing of automotive electrical equipment. including batteries and lights.
By the beginning of World War 1. Lucas products were standard equipment on most popular production cars like Morns. Vauxhall. Triumph and Austin. Hand made cars like Daimler and Rolls Royce specified Lucas equipment. and still use it.
